Volunteering at the Night Shelter
Many people find that they would like to do something constructive to help other people and one way of doing this is to give time to work with a particular charity. In fact you could say that it is one of the most important ways of helping.
If you want to help out at Colchester Night Shelter the first thing to do is to telephone 01206 549885 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange to come in for a visit and have a look around.
Most Volunteer roles at the Night Shelter consist of assisting the Project Worker prepare the meals for our 20 residents. This is incredibly helpful and frees the Project Workers time up so they can focus on other aspects of the Shift.
There are other Volunteering opportunities at the Shelter however, such as helping the office staff with Administration work or assisting the Personal Development Worker with courses for the Residents. As these are more in depth roles we ask that anyone willing to offer their skills stays and helps in the Kitchen for a few shifts, to meet all the current residents and get a sense of how the Night Shelter operates of an evening. If you are interested in doing other work for the Night Shelter, then please give us a call.
What else do I need to know?
